No, I believe the message the Senators are sending is they will not put up with the Bush administrations incompetency any longer.

The senate is speaking defeat, the candidates for President are shouting it. The whole world looks on in a sick humor how the most powerful nation on the planet has let a bunch of butchers dictate to the American people when and how we will retreat, surrender, what ever you want to call it. The sad part is, our military could start at one end and eradicated every living thing in that country from one end to the other if they so chose, but our own people have prevented again and again our men and women from doing their jobs. Now bin laden, and the Islamic terrorist networks have proved their point, America is soft, week and with no moral base any longer, now they will move in for the kill. I hope that when this is all said and done, if we have any form of nation left, that those in either party who vote and push for our defeat, are tried and punished for treason, starting with obama and clinton, I hope they both hang for there betrayal of our country.

well first of all..... I have yet to hear what constitutes a "WIN" in Iraq.... When extremists stop attacking ????...When Iraqi government can run itself without US aid ??? When oil flows into the world market again ?

The fact is...."sectarian violence" is just another way of saying civil war without saying it. We can't fight a civil war in Iraq for Iraqi's !

In the end, Iraqi's are going to have to figure it out for themselves....the more we intervene the more we look like invaders/occupiers instead of liberators....which only provides fodder for the extremists to recruit more suicide bombers.

The security assessment from the pentagon at present is....Al Queda has a larger presence in Iraq than it did prior to US forces invading, Al Queda's overal presence in the world is just as large as it was pre-911. So from that assessment...if you agree with it....one might draw the conclusion that we are doing more harm than good by staying in Iraq, and we are exposing our own soldiers to unnecessary and un-yeilding conflict.

Over and over, people are demanding an undefined "victory" before withdrawl, but I don't think you will ever have any kind of total victory over terrorist organizations that exist in the world. You can deter them, you can fight them, you can prevent attacks...but you will not make a significant impact on reducing the terrorists support base or recruitment capability... with the current administration's policy.

Iraq is not our 51st state, and we need to stop treating it as such.

Until someone can define what constitutes VICTORY clearly......i'm supporting the withdrawl of all troops in a phased manner.

No. The Iraqis themselves are actually refusing Al Qaeda influence. The Congress does not want to leave Iraq so Al Qaeda can win, they want to leave to save American lives.

"58 percent [of Americans] want U.S. troops out of Iraq by 2008." So are you saying 58 percent of Americans want Al Qaeda to win in Iraq?

This thing in Iraq has never been intended to be win!! This is a black hole and your sinking in it! You are in the shaded and cannot see the lights... Ask your banker if he want Iraq war to be win by the US... You will be surprised by his answer.

The opposition by the left is about gaining a cheap political victory for themselves. Unfortunately some weak republicans who know how well oiled the leftist smear machine works have buckled under to save themselves. It is sad when a country gets sold down the drain for personal gain. FDR wouldnt have played that game.
