First off for everyone - this is a four-game series, not three, so you might need to redo your predictions.

As a Jays fan, I'm torn about this series. On the one hand, there's a chance that we could get seriously thumped and start the second half off on the wrong foot. On the other hand, though, it's a great measuring stick for the Jays. Aaron Hill is hurt, but the return of Overbay should still help the team both in the field and at the plate.

The Sox are definitely a better team, but I'm still excited - and more than a little scared - about this series. Hopefully Halladay can have a good start tonight, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can at least keep the Sox offense at least somewhat in check. That will be tough, though - they're a very good group.

I wouldn't expect a sweep in any four-game series, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Boston beat us in three of four. I'd be more than happy with a split, and I'll jump for joy if we somehow manage to pull out a series win.

Good luck, Sox fans, although we need it more than you do.

I'm a Red Sox fan and honestly, I think it will be a split. Maybe the Red Sox would go 3 out of four if they are lucky.

Today: Halladay vs. Wakefield

If Wakefield is on and the Red Sox defense can put runs on the board, they could win this one. But it's a big if. Wakefield is a crapshoot. You'lll knwo within the first 5 innings whether Wakefield is on or off. Halladay is one of the best pitchers in the AL and getting runs off of him won't be easy.

Chances of winning:

Red Sox 40% Blue Jays 60%

Tomorrow: Marcum vs. Tavarez

Tavarez is our fourth starter since Gabbard took over when Schilling got on the DL. It comes down to whether the Red Sox can put runs on the board. Tavarez usually gives up three or four runs.

Chances of winning:

Red Sox 60% Blue Jays 40%

Saturday: McGowan vs. Matsuzuka

Matsuzuka is more consistent than McGowan and Dice-K should be back on after getting lit up against Detriot.

Chances of winning:

Red Sox 75% Toronto: 25%

Sunday: Beckett vs. Litsch

This one could be a blowout. Boston has a far more dominating pitcher than Toronto's and the Red Sox usually give Beckett plenty of run support.

Chances of winning:

Red Sox 90% Toronto 10%

Well, I'm going to today's game, so I hope the Sox play well in this one at least.

I'm not terribly worried about that Tiger's series, yet. Although it did highlight our main problem, which is that our big hitters (Manny, Papi, and Drew) need to start hitting for power. We should have won the second game of that series, and could have won the third one, but our big bats were not coming through when they needed to with RISP.

At this point we'll coast into the playoffs, but if our big bats are still not clicking then we'll exit early. If they are, we'll be pretty tough to beat given that our starting rotation is just as good as the best in the AL and our bull pen is the best bar none.

We don't need a super studly offense in the playoffs the way our pitching is, just one that gives a little pop when you need it. I could see this team steamrolling through the playoffs like the 2005 White Sox (who my Sox had the misfortune to get destroyed by in the divisional series that year) IF our bats are clicking well enough come October.

I'm looking forward to the second half here.

at the instant i needed to assert definite-thinking the Sox are 10-2 against them this season, and not merely have not have been given any situation hitting their ultimate starter-Sabathia- yet they have ultimately, after years and years, began to ascertain Rivera's Cutter.this is now no longer interest over while Mo is obtainable in-and that ought to be an excellent psychological benefit. The Yanks lineup is solid, however the Sox lineup is in yet another stratosphere this season. additionally they have Beckett, Lester, Wake (do no longer snigger, he's pitching extra suitable than expected and the Yanks have continuously had situation w/the knuckleball). In a 5 interest series i think of those are extra suitable odds than according to easily Sabathia. The youthful guy who's pitchin' rather lots for ny stunning now may be intimidated in a playoff against the Sox, Colon and Garza are wildcards because of the fact the Sox beat them the two this season additionally. Sox bullpen is extra suitable than Yanks bullpen, with the aid of a techniques, that's yet another benefit for them against the Yankees. That being reported, any team can win in a 5 interest series. I advise what share communities-incl.the Yanks and Sox-have had 5 interest slumps in the process the season that amounted to absolutely no longer something? they could honestly have a extra suitable probability of thrashing the Twins, tho, esp. in the event that they have homefield, because of the fact the Twins honestly can't win on the Stadium. i assume my common answer to that query is i think of so, i'm hoping so...yet something can ensue in the Playoffs-that's why we adore them, stunning?

The Sox have had some troubles against Toronto the last couple of years. They can be tough. Nevertheless I'll say Boston takes 2 of 3.

Good catch Craig S about it being a 4 game series. I'll change my prediction to a split, but hope for more.

Check out the pitching match-ups. Boston does have better team pitching, but the Blue Jays have a potent offense that can put up runs on any given night. I don't know who's gonna pitch for the Blue Jays, but that'll be the deciding factor in this series.

Blue Jays take 2 of 3, if we can get good pitching and get on the bats, we have Matt Stairs
