Just watched a documentary on them just awhile ago. Too bad, it was halfway through. Any details or opinion?

We had war games with their mountain units in Washington, great bunch of guys and great soldiers. What makes them so fearsome, they know war, no PC stuff. You have to reach in deep and pull out your evil and unleash it. Kind of what we should have done in Iraq the first time.

Good question. I've heard this a number of times too. The knife they have is rather intimidating. That much I know. Perhaps there was a warrior code in their culture. Perhaps it's all a myth that the British didn't mind perpetuating since they were on the same side.

Apparently the name Ghurka comes from an 8th century Hindu warrior.

They were designated as a "martial race" by the British, meaning they were of a culture that was naturally warlike and aggressive.
