First of all, know your character and why they're saying the lines that they're saying. Practice with another person so you can become reaaallly familiar with them.

Another tried-and-true method: Get in the bathtub with your script, and start memorizing the lines to yourself, line by line. Recite one part of the line to yourself, and when you think you've got it, add the next line. Keep doing that until you feel confident in your memorization. It's what I always do and it helped me out when I played Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream, who never shuts up!

Hope this helped!

If you're really sick, then maybe see if the director will give you the day off. Then, you will have more time to look over your lines. BUT, if you skip a rehersal, then you'll be farther behind everyone else, so you'll have to work extra hard to keep up.

Usually, when I read a script through once or twice I can remember it, but maybe try to find cue's to when you say your lines. For example, Pretend your character is SALLY

BOB: blah blah blah
JOE: I like to eat Snickers.
SALLY: Me too.

So then, you would make a mental note of the word, "Snickers". That tells you when you start your next line- in this case after JOE finishes saying "snickers". 15-19 isn't that much- you'll be able to do it. Actually, if you just start running lines with family or friends and let go of the script, you'll be suprised at how much you really know!

Remember, even if you do mess up, it's only a rehersal. You should always try your best at rehersals, but even if you forget a few lines, you still have time to get it right. Good Luck!

well first- make sure you're memorizing the lines for the first time as if you were memorizing a grocery list. This way you will be more flexible when it comes to making changes and changing the emotions behind the lines.
What works for me the best when it comes to memorizing lines is to take a bit and repeat it over and over again untill you feel you have it, then add the next bit to it, and repeat the two pieces together-
For example, lets say you had to memorize this piece

" They're all trying to protect me you see, thats what all this desperate prevaration has been about. They're just getting trapped further and further into lie after lie and it isnt going to work, because your too smart for them inspector..."

I would start with what seems most logical- "theyre all trying to protect me you see"- now go over it again and again untill your comfortable with it, and when you are add in the next part, "thats what all this desperate prevaracation has been about" - so you would say that line a few times, then put both pieces together and say those two lines together, again and again untill your ready for the next part. picking up the speed you say it at will also help- and it also helps to have some one there to help you by holding your script and feeding oyu your lines if you need a reminder

I hope this helps!

Find a friend, give them the script, and go back and forth with them over and over and over again... memorizing only happens through repetition.

Be sure to focus on what main idea your character is saying, while you are memorizing the actual words. If you don't get the exact words right, you need to make sure that you know what idea your character is trying to get across. Missing a word here and there is not as bad as missing the point of your line, or missing a fact that your line MUST get across.

Just remember that it's far worse to look like you don't know the line and get it wrong, then to confidently say the incorrect line with the right facts and ideas.

You don't seem to have tried to learn your lines. You say you have been working on them since you got the book? Not enough apparently.

Read the first line aloud. Cover it and repeat it aloud. When you can say it accurately without looking, then add the second line and say both aloud without looking, etc through the few lines/

For heaven's sake take a Midol.
