this is much easier said then done...
you might want to start off with an agency that works with placing extras untill you get your feet on the ground- try Actors Reps of NYC and LA
and once you develope a good resume- try to get into the big leages by doing some mass mailings to agents - the ross report has got it all so deffinatly pick up a copy of it and mail to all aplicable agents!
good luck!

It isn't so simple as getting a name and walking in and saying "I'm an actor, represent me." Use the yellow pages. Call and ask for an interview for representation. (You had better have lots of experience as an actor and be good at acting.) They hate having wasted their time. You will need a resume` and head shot. If you do not have these then get them. Tell me more about your background and why you want to be an actor. I mentor aspiring actors. Write me at kencosp@aol.com.

Hi,
frequent questions of this nature inspired me to add this page to my website. It answers your question: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/how_to_get_an_agent.html
If you are new to the business of acting, you can also download the free ebooklet if you want. It's called: What It Takes To Become An Actor. Just sign in and download it for free.
Hope that helps!
