Okay well I think I'm 10 weeks, my doctors says I'm 12, he's counting form the first day of my last period, why, how many weeks am I really approx?

depends on when you ovulated.
if you are 12 weeks pregnant, you conceived 10 weeks ago. that's just how they measure it.

Even though your baby is only 10 weeks old, doctors date your pregnancy from the date of your last period so you are actually 12 weeks pregnant. Just some silly thing that doctors do to confuse us even more. Congratulations!

this is a common misconception

say you get your period on july 1st and you ovulate around july 15th and that when you get pregnant then by august 1st you will be 4 weeks pregnant.. not 2 weeks.. because there are 9 months of pregnancy and the first two weeks are BEFORE conception... and are included in the 9 month period.

so your doctor is right you are 12 weeks

If it's been 12 weeks since the first day of your last period, you're 12 weeks. Pregnancy doesn't count from date of conception, it counts from your last period.
