It could be the alternator. For the alternator to go out in an 03, would be rare, but it could happen. Someone should at least check the output of the alternator. It also might be your voltage regulator.
Good luck

you may have one of those rare cases where the diodes in the alternator are draining the battery.
If you run a alternator test on the car it will only show that the alternator is putting out. If you remove the alternator and run a test just say Autozone (which is a free service) can tell you the diodes are bad.
A easier way is to place a multimeter or voltmeter on DC current and with the engine off connect leads to the positive and negative terminals. Watch to see if the voltage goes below 12.5. Alot of times it may take hours to get below 12 volts. Versus when the battery is disconnect from the car all together.
Not to count out that you have other things such as a light that you can't see on such as hood or trunk is the problem. I've witness the alternator do that many times.

Of course there is. Most parts places can test the alternator for you for free. Basically they set up a system (on a test machine) to spin the alternator and determine if electricty is being generated to determine if the alternator is working.
They should also be able to test this in the car. They simply turn on the engine and test the voltage at the battery. With engine on, the alternator should be charging the battery. Voltage at the battery should be over 13 Volts. Drops to 12 with engine off.

I had an import that did something similar to this. There is a big connector under the hood that basically connects the entire motor to the car. Water had got inside it and corroded the charge wire that runs from the alternator to the battery. It also, like you said, effected other electrical items as well. Might be worth a look.

They can check it. Most places can even do it right on the car without removal of the battery or the alternator

My wifes car had the alternator go out. i tested it by using a good, charged battery, then starting the car and then disconnecting the battery (do not let the + and - touch). if it dies is probably your alternator.
