Thats the problem with FM Radio, they don't stop replaying the same songs. Check out XM Satellite Radio, you won't have that problem again!

You should sign up for Yahoo's Launchcast Radio. You can pick and choose the type of music you want to hear, rate the artists and songs on a 'hate it' to a 'love it' scale so it plays it more or less, you can skip songs if you don't like to hear it right now and you can pause a song anytime! It's great! Then you're not locked into what the radio stations are playing, you have your own personalized one! There's a free version you can do but it only lets you skip a limited amount of times in a month. I pay $40.00 a year for mine LaunchCast Plus version where I can skip as much as I want. Try it!

The simple answer is "Because it works." Advertising sales rates often depend on ratings, and specifically ratings in certain demographics. Station Program Directors (the guys that make those kind of decisions) know what type of music to play, because the end result is good ratings in their target demographic. If they get bad ratings they tinker a bit, but generally they go with what they know works. So they play it until it doesn't work anymore and apparently the song you're complaining about has worked for 7+ years.

Because terrestrial radio sucks!!
Sign up for Sirius Satellite radio and listen to that on-line. It has so many different options for music stations, no commercials and DOESN'T play the same song over and over! :)
