That's normal. It's just old blood. Most women get it either at the beginning or end of the period. If you are going to go swimming when you have a period, you HAVE to wear tampons. They won't leak. Water doesn't stop a period.

This probably is your period. The oxygen levels in your blood can determine whether the colour goes from a bright red to a brown. It could also be sign of infection, but I'm guessing it's your period. Wear a tampon for the shore.

EDIT: You're also still young and I'm guessing that you've only had your period a couple times, so it's normal for this one to be lighter/different than the other ones.

Tampons for teens. These are slimmer than the "regular" size and great when you need to go swimming. Change your tampon every 6 to 8 hours. You can also wear one to bed. Insert one before bed and remove it in the morning. If you're dry, you can apply a water based lubricant to the tampon before inserting it. (Wal-mart's Great Value brand has a good, inexpensive lubricant. Never use body lotion or vaseline)

Talk to your doctor if your period isn't coming around ever 28 days or so. It's good to talk to your doctor anyway. Mark your calendar for start and stop dates of your period. This is a good habit to start while you're young.

It is very normal to have a brown discharge a day or so before your period becomes "heavy". I've asked my doctor about this and he said it was absolutely okay. When you turn 18 and every year after that, you'll need to have a papsmear. This is important for taking good care of yourself, and will check for cervical cancer.

It is common to have a brown discharge just before or at the end of your period. If it's very slight I would just use a panty liner and change it when you get out of the water, if it's heavier you can use a tampon. But if it is very slight you don't want to change it in 3 hours, it can hurt to remove an almost dry tampon. You may want to use a tampon even if it is slight, just leave it in for 6 to 8 hours before removing it. Hope this helped!

its just your period, normally for me thats right at the end, and dont worry if your going to the shore it wont be leaking in your underware. you can either where a thin panty liner, or a tampon. best of luck to you. oh and p.s. when your in water like an ocean or a pool, you wont have anything come out of you anyways because the water stops the flow from coming out!

You're still on your period.. Wear a pad/tampon because your basically letting your period blood leak everywhere. for swimming, where a tampon or don't swim.
