I just bought a laptop and I don't know what I need to make it wireless connection... do I just need a wireless card?

Well, what are you trying to connect "to"? Or are you assuming that since you have a wireless card in the laptop that you can automatically connect to "the Internet" by some magic inviisible connection that justs "exists out there free for everyone"?

You need to connect to something (like a wireless router) that is sending out a wireless signal.

The answer is a very solid "maybe".

Some come with built in wireless capability. If yours has this, you just need to configure it.

If it does not come with built in wireless than you need a wireless pcmcia card or a usb wireless attachment. It also needs to be configured.

Check with the notebook paperwork to see what you have.

I am assuming you have a wireless access point already. You need this too.

mos new laptops have a wireless card built in (wifi), if it does all you need is a router at home for the wireless signal and if it does not have wifi built in you will also need a wireless adapter for the lappy
