Piano is the first instrument I learned to play. As a matter of fact, the majority of music as a whole is probably first penned out using a piano... Any style of music can be played on it!
Learning to play piano is a good segue for people to move into other instruments and styles of music. Keep on playing, and do your thing! A kid I went to high school with is now playng professionally all over the country with various musicians! Look at Van Halen and Bon Jovi, they have keyboardists!

I have a friend that plays piano, and shes not a geek, and anyway, the only way people are "cooler" than you is when YOU think they are. and the only reason that you're "geekier" than other people is when YOU think you are. so if you don't think you're a geek for playing piano than you're not. And why listen to your sister, I have one and all she does is try and find ways to make fun of me. So just have a good outlook on life and keep a good opinion on yourself, no matter what others think! ; ) Have a great day!!!<3

I don't think it's for geeks because I play piano. =) I'm actually taking lessons. It's my favorite instrument.
Well a geek is someone who is into computer and technology and designs things like computer games.
Many bands play the piano in their songs. So then they would be considered geeks?

Yeah, it's for geeks like: Elton John, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Five for Fighting, etc.

No! i play the piano and i am so not a geek. i've been palying it since 2nd grade.
and once u learn the piano u can play the keyboard.

When I think of the piano, I think of rich parents that make their little brats play it. Besides that, it doesn't really seem geeky, it seems cultured (a slight, but important difference).
