These conditions really describe what cichilds like. There are other fish out there, and to list each and every fish that would thrive in there wouldn't help. With a five gallon tank, you don't have many options. Stocking this tank my suggestion would be a Betta, and a small amount of danio's or white clouds if you want more then one species of fish. All these fish can tolerate a wide range of conditions.

As Bettachris said, Shell Dweller Cichlids would work perfectly. Neolamprologus Brevis stay less than 2 inches and require very little space, but stable temperature and water quality. They are a lot of fun to watch and you may have the pleasure of watching them raise their fry! In a 5 gallon, you could keep one pair (1 male and 1 female). Good luck!

Yes, most aquarium fish are much more tolerent of these parameters then they are given credit for. If a fish you have interest in has a reputation for being delicate, just avoid it. Messing with your water and trying to lower it will cause more problems then having a slightly high, but stable water.
Just keep in mind your limited options in a 5 gallon tank, and choose your fish wisely. Danio's are not suitable, they are too fast and active. Think along the lines of corydora catfish and cardinal tetras.

5 gallons is too small for most cichlids, but there is a group of small african cichlids called shellies. These fishes can live in a 5 gallon, but only about 2 of them.
Being african they like high ph, so addd some crushed coral and shells for them to breed in and live.
Edit to the one above me, cardinals are from the amazon, which is low in ph. Not high ph like 8.
