I have a HP a1118x desk top and I am staying in a cabin about 30 yards from the house which has wireless. What do I need to do to connect.

A wireless PCI card would work perfect. You can pick them up at any electronics store that sells computer equipment for about $40-$50.

Go with a PCI card like what I listed below instead of a USB adapter. The PCI card will be a stronger performer than a USB adapter.

You need wireless capability on your notebook. If it is not built in, procure a wireless pcmcia card or a wireless usb adapter.

Configure your wireless while you are at the house to make sure it works. Then move to the cabin. If you do not receive it at the cabin, there is a distance or signal blockage issue you need to address.

a wireless ethernet pci card is what you'll need ppl with usb wireless adapter run into huge problem's later.

your laptop must have wlan built in or a usb add on for wireless. simply setup via network setting on the laptop. some like myself use the security by router , such as you must enter the mac address of all permitted devices on network into the security center for router. when you use network setup it will look for all networks click on yours and proceed with the prompts given too finish.

You need a wireless adaptor like i'm using right now - just plugs into your USB port - then just pair it with the router.

You can bring it to radio shack to get wireless but only if its compatible
