It is a very fine grass that doesn't grow very high. I'm pretty sure it starts with a "z".

It's zoysia and I hate it. I live in St. Louis MO, and given our climate, the grass dies off fairly early and does not come back until well after our neighbors have nice green grass. It's also very rough. If you enjoy being barefoot in the yard, go with bluegrass.

One thing I'll say that's good about zoysia is that it's pretty tough to kill permanently. Other grasses and weeds have a hard time surviving in it.

Hope that helps.

zoysia it is not a grass but a weed that resembles grass.once established it will choke out everything around it. In the winter it turns brown but they make a spray that makes it look green this weed thrives on heat and sun it is very durable people usually burn this weed in the spring to allow fresh runners to emerge.
