If you are looking for your computers IP Address go to Start, Run, type CMD then click OK. It will open a dos window. In the dos window type ipconfig. It will then show you your ip address.

There is no such thing as an iep address. There is an IP address however.

I presume your Internet Service Provider is either a Cable TV (CATV) or a Digital Subscriber Link (DSL) through your phone company.

Your ISP has provided you a public IP address which is the address at the modem. If you connect the modem to a router or if the modem has a built in router, your pc has a private IP address that is provided by the router.

If you wan to know your public IP address, go to www.whatismyip.com and it will tell you your public IP address. Because you probably have a dynamic IP address, this changes periodically.

If you want to know your private IP address, open command prompt (start, run - type in cmd and hit enter), and at the prompt type in "ipconfig /all" without the quotes. It will respond with the IP addresses for all LAN connections on your specific pc. They should be in the format 192.168.x.y where x is usually 0 or 1 and y is usually any value between 2 and 255. Caution - if you see an ip in the format 169.a.b.c it means you are not getting an IP address from the router and you have a connection issue that needs to be resolved.

You really don't tell much about what you are doing
how many other PC's maybe on the system and working
or not working

do you have a modem DSL or Cable
a router a hub?

and do you mean IP address?

If you are adding this PC to a Wi-Fi ( hate that name its a brand name) not a protocol or hardware type

You need to try this
Turn off one of the other computers and see if you connect
if you do call your ISP and tell them you need another
IP allocated

can't connect to a IP if it doesn't exist
your system will generate a 192. IP thats LOCAL
will work for networking with other PC's on the network
part of the TCP/IP service in your PC networking
is to use DHCP to reassign you a new IP that extends
beyond the local network limits of the 192. address

You need a IP supported by an internet service provider
ISP the people you pay for service

I'm supposing you are using a windows OS
From "Start" select "Run". Type in address box "CMD" without the quotes. When the next box appears type "ping" then space then type the name you have given to your computer. If it is in anyway connected to your network it should come back with the ip address that looks something like 192.168.2.1 (not these numbers precisely but four numbers in sequence. That is you IP address. With xp when the "Run" box appears type "ipconfig" and the result will be your IP address
