This is of course impossible to answer but the proportion of gay males who are catholic must be the same as there rest of the population but I am sure the circumstances under which Roman Catholic priests live and work must attract a larger proportion of gay men than would be the case for priests in other religions

Worldwide, it is a very small number.
In the United States, the number is at least 15%.
Homosexual activity is a grave sin and thus no priest who is a homosexual should be allowed to serve as a priest.
The church should turn over to the police any and all evidence they have on any homosexual (and hetrosexual though those cases make up less than 20% of the total) crimes committed against children and all homosexual priests should immediately be removed from their duties and not be allowed to return.
The church has NO moral authority until all criminal pedophile priests are removed from the church and brought to justice.

The priests that were accused of the pedophilia were all homosexuals who entered the priesthood in the 40's, 50's and 60's. Now that the church is doing background checks(for at least 5 years now) and also doing a complete history on those entering the priesthood it is probably alot less now.

do you really believe in the likelihood of a gay CATHOLIC PRIEST openly admitting his homosexuality?
i know there have been examples in the past. but do you really think enough would admit it to reflect an accurate percentage?

I guess it would depend on who you ask.
Ask any normal everyday Joe and he'll probably say 100%, turn around and ask a Catholic and they'll 0%.
It's kind of like asking what is the percentage of dishonest Politicians.. I would 100%, and a Politician would say 0%.

I would say the percentage would 75... we have to allow for those who do nuns, mums and not just bums. oh yes and the faithful religious types.
