Do they not understand that Nazis were the National Socialist German Workers' party?

Facists were opposed to economic and political liberty. That does not sound like conservatives to me either.

The Nazis were extreme right wing militants who hated leftists. The first concentration camps, such as Dachau and Buchenwald, were originally built to imprison liberals, socialists, communists and trade union leaders.

The Nazis favored the big German industrialists and financiers such as Krupp, Siemens, IG Farben and Flick and even went so far as to provide them with slave labor from the concentration camps and sold them previously Jewish-owned businesses at rock-bottom prices. Independent workers’ unions were eliminated.

Germany was a democratic country before the Nazis took over and became a fascist dictatorship with executive power concentrated in Der Fuehrer Hitler. Dissent was ruthlessly suppressed.

The Nazis also declared that Germany was a Christian nation and described “Christianity as the unshakable foundation of the morals and moral code of the nation.” (Hitler’s Reichstag Speech March 1933). The Nazis established the Reich Protestant Church and elected a Reich Bishop.

In addition, the Nazis were extremely aggressive regarding invading other countries without justifiable reason.

Similarities between the neocon and Nazi agendas exist and can't be ignored. You should carefully review the history of fascism in Europe and the rise of the Nazis.

the Nazis were not actually socialists. Just the same way the Democratic Republic of Congo isn't terribly democratic. Nor is North Korea the People's Republic.

Liberals (often incorrectly) bandy about the term Nazi, because of the notion that the Nazis were right wing totalitarians. There are definitely many conservatives that are right wing totalitarians as well, however it may be technically incorrect to equate that with Nazism.

Also, it's important to remember that no party or ideology has a monopoly on rabid and incorrect analogies, improper argumentation, or specious generalization.

First of all most do not even understand enough about history to know who the Nazis are they just repeat the crap a Michael Moore, Jon Stewart, Bill Mahrer, or David Gregory and Chris Matthews would say - its kinda like a parrot they drink the Kool Aid and then respond with the words of their liberal leaders. And for those they do they believe in hate speech and the word Nazis is such a vile one.

There is a quiet inside "joke" in the pulpit ministry. It goes something like "…weak point here, preach LOUDER" marked in the margins of the preacher's notes.
When there is nothing to stand on, emotional people result to screaming and name calling. It is their nature. All the reasonable mind can do is to consider the source.
The same liberals accuse Reagan and others that actually stand for something rather than no standards at all of being rigid and forcing their morality upon those who believe differently.
There is a little "proverb" that pretty well sums up the situation.
To the mind that thinks, life is good and a wonderful challenge. To the mind that "feels", life is a tragedy.
Sorry, I didn't really answer your question. It is something I have wondered for over 40 years.

The reason why Liberals attack these Pseudo-Conservatives is the Fundamentalist point of view and agenda that these sphincters shove down the throats of the 72% of informed Americans. The reality itself has a Liberal Bias if you are a New Age Conservative, because you probably live in fantasy land where we are winning the War on Terror, our economy is doing well, we are not approaching a 50 trillion dollar deficit, there are not over 3400 US soldiers dead, Iraq is a stable democratic state where you could go shopping, the pentagon has supplied at least 1.1 billion to the US army to equip the Hum V's with devices that inhibit the explosive penetrative devices that kill 80% of our soldiers in Iraq, the government has a form of checks and balances, $9 billion in cash didn't go missing, the government cares about domestic issues, and our country has an intelligent well articulated President, etc. Since I live in a reality with the rest of the world, none of the statements above are true. This is no longer a democratic state but rather a country run by a dictator who claims executive privilege on all his illegal activities, such as illegal wire tapping, complete and utter disregard for science (changing global warming reports), false intelligence or a complete lack of intelligence in this administration, etc. But what hurts me the most as an American is the complete disregard of facts by these New Age Conservatives. I have come to the realization that most conservatives are either incapable of analytical thinking (its either white or black) or they are simply just evil (because their answer to everything is war, bombs, destruction etc.). This latter statement could perhaps explain why Conservatives may be regarded as self-loathing, egotistical, copasetic, blood thirsty, hypocritical, uneducated, drones of President Bush.

ANOTHER fool who believes nazi propaganda?

Hitler used the term socialist to win over the people. He spoke of worker's paradise which he said couldn't be attained with the Jewish population ruining Germany. Now I agree conservatives ARE NOT nazis. And Bush is NOT Hitler. That's a ridiculous comparison. But neither are liberals. In fact, modern conservatives are actually more liberal than you all think. What with Bush and Bush supporters wanting me to believe what they believe, worship the god they do, marry only people they deem fit, watch my every move through surveillance, make me give up a few freedoms to protect all. That sounds like BIG government to me.

Where DID all the real conservatives go? Your country needs you!

{Edit}

I like with all of this and the others who write long lists of why you're wrong, people still say we're whining and name-calling.

National Socialist German Workers, that party was a hell of a lot more nationalistic their views than socialist. They were as socialist as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) is a Democracy or is ruled by the People.

liberalism=/=socialism=/=communism

Hitler and the Nazis were far-right nationalist fascists.

The Nazis were fascists, not socialists (despite the 'official name'). The position of many far-right conservatives is in line with fascism:
1. Punish dissent
2. Government adopted/forced religion
3. Ethnic purity and legalized inequities
4. Social/Moral behavior standards decided upon by the state and enforced by law
5. State Control of the Media
6. State sponsored propaganda

Only, after hitler was invited to join the nazi party, as their propaganda boss, did it pick up the word Socialist.

It was, before hitler's time, known only as the German Workers Party.

Adding the word Socialist was nothing but pure propaganda.

The conservatives, of today, are much more aligned with naziism than are Liberals.

In fact many of today's greedy corporations, operated by conservatives, are direct descendants of naziism.

With the logic that you use, please remember that saddam hussein ran the Iraqi republican guards.

yet another simplistic assertion from yet another user-friendly Republican. no person has call conservatives Nazis and fascist for "desirous to take care of the borders and to comprehend who's in the US." we've in comparison the Arizona regulation requiring human beings to hold data a citizenship with the Nazi regulation that required Jewish human beings carry id with the aid of obvious similarities. That this (no longer so) diffused difference eludes you isn't surprising. we don't criticize Mexico because of the fact we at the instant are not Mexico and we've lots extra nuanced criminal equipment, rooted in the form, in this united states of america and this regulation looks to violate the numerous person-friendly premises of our shape. Is that too complicated for you?
