Okay last night before I went to bed I was lying on my left side as they say to do to time contractions. Well they were getting a lot worse as I laid there, probably a few minutes apart. Well I ended up falling asleep and woke up with nothing really. Well now I'm just getting sharp pains all over my belly and when I walk it acually hurts because the baby is pushing so far down. I am about 36 weeks along now. I don't know whats going on. Any advice?

I am having the exact same thing. I asked a friend who just delivered and will be asking my OB at my next visit.

My friend who had the same thing said that it's bunk that Braxton-Hicks contractions don't hurt. So, the pain is the B-H coupled with back pain from a lack of support while sleeping. B-H can also cause some pain in the back as well.

Her advice to me was that I would really know when it was labor pains because the pain would feel more like it was 'radiating' and less like the sharp discomfort in the front or back.

I've been having that since i was 35 weeks, but call your doctor jsut incase. I'm due today and still get that feeling and i'm still waiting. But call your doctor and they will tell you what to do . Mine get really bad and i lay on teh left side and drink alot of water and some times they go away and others they don't for a bit. Call the doc. Better safe than sorry. Good Luck

Call your OB and tell him about the types of pain your are having -- but when it is real labor you will know it cause they wont stop usually. Try to rest as much as possible today - you will probably go into labor tonight.

best of luck to you and your new little one.

just probably Braxton-Hicks contractions or false labor. If they stop you are ok. If the non-contraction pain becomes to much call you OB. When the real ones come you will know.

Call your doc...they may want to see you for observation. Some woman with VERY high tolerance to pain do not know they are in labor until their water breaks!

Call them and see if they want to see you!

Best wishes.
