The real question here is of censorship. Should Governments have the right to limit Speech.

The most common problem with censorship, especially in democracies, is a problem of majority rule. Censored opinions will always be minority opinions; political parties in the minority, religious minorities (this includes Christian religious minorities like the Quakers), any community that disagrees with popular sentiment could and would be censored (the scientific community comes to mind). And while some might like the idea of censoring minority opinions, they should keep in mind that everyone is a minority in something, particularly in a country where political authority in Congress and the Presidency fluctuates.

The Free Speech issue is not one where "Liberals" want every one to be equal and have their voice heard, etc, but rather, that they know what a Constitution is supposed to do: define and limit the authority of Government and protect citizens from Governments that seek to control more than they should. Governments should not be allowed to determine what we say, what we hear, or what we read unless the acts being described are encouraging people to commit crimes. To allow Governments more power than this over speech is foolish and dangerous. I can think of no greater threat to American Democracy then the ability for the controlling party in our Government to limit speech: the first victim to be struck with that blunt instrument would be the other party and any semblance of fair Government is gone.

In other words: as long as the rapists aren't encouraging people to try it, or in some other way pushing people toward crime, they should be allowed a radio show. They couldn't, of course, get one. Advertisers would never support the show so it wouldn't happen.

People who rape usually do so because they had the opportunity. It's really about power over someone else's life for that period of time, it's the same reason why corruption in government and other such phenomena happen. It's not even about gender either, there are cases in which straight men actually rape other men because of the power, for example, this may happen in prisons. Of course there are other psychological factors leading for the need to do something as heinous as rape, but power is definitely a big factor.

I assume you're talking about the fairness doctrine, and the answer would be that it only seems fair that you would have to give the rapists equal time. Or how about if John Walsh was on talking about the exploitation of children, shouldn't NAMBLA then be given equal time to state their side? Of course it's a stupid idea, but it is also only the locical evolution of ridiculous socialist ideas like the "fairness doctrine"

I would hope that everyone is anit-rape. And as far as the rapist's POV? Well I would only want to hear that after their time in the Big House getting some of their own medicine.

Isn't it funny how "progressives" want to limit free speech by forcing people to listen to something they don't like. Bet the would all scream like little girls if it was their radio and TV personalities that where being targeted.

Hello,

Yes, that would be a good idea. Like the old saying goes, "know thy enemy!" The more you can get into their heads, the better you can prepare and defend yourself against them.

Now would somebody grab a chair and sit-down with the first answerer and explain anything of clarity to her !!!
