I have a tub and shower doors and I HATE the shower doors. They are ugly and I just feel restricted when I'm showering, so I want to remove them. My mom thinks that the doors will be better to prospective buyers if I go to sell in the future. I say it doesn't make a diff. Do you think that will make a diff in the value of the home, I know bathrooms are big focal points when selling a home? I really hate them, but I don't want to do anything damaging. If I can remove them, any tips on how? Thanks!

Certainly all opinions have validity here. Your issue is obviously aesthetics. You don't state however,,, and paranormal gives you decent clues...How long you intend to reside there, or if you even have a notion to sell.

Forget the market fluctuations and possible profit, unless you're ready to list the house NOW. Profit motives are all about GREED anyway. No offense, but if you managed to get out, with what you put in, you haven't lost.

One major issue I might be concerned with, if I was in your bathroom, would be; how is the stall door attached? Hopefully only to opposing walls, especially since you mention a TUB as part of the setting.

Do what you feel most comfortable with, for as long as you're going to live there. MOM does not live there,,,hopefully.

Shower/Tub door enclosures need not be a budget breaking experience, and can always be added IF/WHEN you decide to sell. You might also use the WWW looking up HOUSE staging, for selling, and take some hints.

It's largely a personal thing, and any prospective buyers might be put off by a DOOR, no matter what it looks like or costs you. On the flip side of that a Curtain, most often Vinyl, can "cheapen" a look in an otherwise Beautiful bathroom,,,or enhance it if everything coordinates.

To patch holes, if its just in drywall is an easy fix. If the bracing/ framing for the door has been drilled through tile, the issue becomes more complicated.

I think you should remove the doors and give them to your mom. You have to live there and you should be comfortable in your own home.

If you get ready to sell your house and the realtor suggests shower doors, just buy new ones. New ones will increase the value more than old ones. Either way it's not going to be a substantial difference. Are $200 shower doors going to raise the property value by $5000? Not likely.

Remove the shower doors. Replace with a shower curtain. You can always put the doors back if you decide to sell your home. Make sure you put the screws and bracket in a safe for later use.

I wouldn't worry about selling the home now - property value is increasing every year anyway. It's your choice considering you're the one who has to deal with the confined space every day while taking a shower and you're paying for the house now. Don't worry about what someone will think of it later. Besides, how much less would your house be worth without shower doors? Probably not much.

Doors may help a little when it comes to selling, but don't do or not do anything just for that reason unless you plan on selling in the near future. You still have to live there.

They should be reasonable easy to unscrew and if you have room you could store them. You will need to get some silicone to refill the holes.
If you are not planning on shifting in the near future do it, after all it is you who has to use the shower.
Many people when they buy a house have in mind what they would like to change anyway.

Go to HGTV and DIY network sites on how-to. Your Mom is wrong-buyers what clean open lines. All the home selling shows rip them out-first thing. Its also a dated look many times. They should be on with screws and silicon-go read DIY's how-tos. Very well done.

You could always remove the doors from their track and store them in a safe place. That way if you decide to put them back up to sell, you can. Just hang a curtain in their place. :)
