It is a matter of use. People that use their memory more get better at it. Now a days we have lots of crutches so we don't need to remember as well. But anyone used to an environment where they have to remember gets better at it:
In the middle ages it was common for bards to compose and sing hours of entertainment with out writing anything down . . . .most of the people then couldn't write.

I would say there are few reasons. Firstly, reading the Quran. Also, Arabians diets consist highly of olive oil. Olive oil is very healthy. Many Arabs eat foods high in antioxidants.

hmmm, is that so?I think not only arabic ppl have strong memory, all the ppl have. that's why humans r said to be "wise".
if ur memory wasn't strong u could have forgot ur own birthday! but did that ever happen? i think not, i lived in Jordan (an arabic country) for years, some ppl were so stupid some were normal some were smart

Having lived in Saudi Arabia for a short time, I also noticed this.
The children are taught from a very young age to memorize the Koran and from this practice they learn to develop incredibly good memories
