Our flat is a tip at the mo. My bloke is out tonight and to surprise him i am spending all evening tidying and cleaning. How can i make that fun for me so i dont get bored??

I put on my favourite dance track and whack up the volume. I dance about like an idiot (no-ones at home) and think of all those calories I'm burning.

I stick my ipod on the speakers, turn it up and just get on with it. Once you get started it's not too bad. I'm going to sound like such an old bird now (I'm only 29 really!) but routine is the best thing when it comes to housework. I do the same things on the same day each week and it just gets done. I don't think it's ever fun, just less horrible! Think of the sense of achievement you'll have when it's all finished.

When i do a deep clean i put some dance tunes on and open a bottle of red. Just enjoy the music and wine and without fail the next thing you know you will have finished cleaning.

Obviously from all the other answers having music does help. What I'd suggest is that once you are done you treat YOURSELF to something that you really like to do, but don't do very often. Even if it's just going out and having a snack somewhere that you enjoy or going to visit somewhere you haven't been in a while.

Why not surprise him and keep it clean all the time with just 15 minutes of cleaning?

Play music. And have a friend over, perhaps with some take-out food to help make it more of a party.

How can you get bored cleaning a house? (laughs). First turn on some music, that one that makes you wanna dance, you'll see how that will do the trick.

I'm doing the exact same thing tonight... I will be cranking up old cheesy songs like spice girls and aqua and dancing around like a mad girl while cleaning up.

I pretend I am actually getting paid to do the job. Give myself a time schedule for each job, then pat myself on back if I do it before or on time.Small things amuse small minds.
