In a truely free market society the only confine upon the indeviduals rights is that he should not infringe on those rights of others.
In this society all forms of prohibition, requiring a state law enforcement or otherwise government regulation; would not exist as the state required to maintain them could not be sustained, as to maintain it you must tax those under it's jurisdiction, infringing upon their rights as indevuduals in a free society.
In this society anyone could buy use, and sell drugs as they please, as it is their right as consumers and venders to do so, however if drug addictions encouraged by the free market commonly led to theft then that would constitute as a violation of anothers rights and, if the violated had procured appropriate insurance, the theif would then be detained by private security forces.
This free market would not comprehend the link between drug use and the impending violation of rights, nor could it prevent the consumption of drugs without violating the rights of consumers.
That is why, thankfully; and yet against the will of many indevuduals, taxes are collected to maintain law enforcement to ensure that consumerism is regulated, and drug use is prohibited.
To beleive in a truely free market is to be an anarchist.
However when the USA is compared to the UK it can be said that America is a comparatively free market, with the UK's largest employer, a National Health Service where healthcare is universally free at the point of acess, a landmark acheivement of universalist welfare policy. THe UK health system is not without private alternatives, however these must be procured in addition to the National Insurance (a tax on all wage-earning people in the UK, put straight into the NHS) they would already have to pay. It is also worth mentioning that dispite the US healthcare system being overwhelmingly driven by the free market, it's citizans taxes in part are put towards the health maintainance of the nation, although not to the same extent of the UK.
I have no idea wether i have answered your question.

An economic free market in which supply and demand are not regulated no longer exists. Americans have lost all control since economists, politicians and big business decided to outsource jobs and products. None of these people give a d*mn about anything but the bottom line and filling their own coffers.

These are the same people who, out of their "other face", state that "there is no free lunch." This is basically correct. However, their are no free markets, either. In my Economics 102 class (Beginning Micro) I stated that I couldn't find a real-world example of a free market, except for a neighborhood marijuana market where all the consumers and all the growers knew each other and everyone knew all the prices and qualities of all products offered. The professor applauded me, and not one other students in the class could refute my argument.
Both of these theoretical concepts are only tools to help the observer understand the real world. To extrapolate that the real world actually works this way is a delusion of the small-minded.

because these are the same people who believe that government should know everything, regulate their lives and tell them what to do.
