This area is a very complex one and it is best to get advice from an expert. CAB usually have someone who knows the law in this area or a local law centre if you have one

A lot depends on where you live but in California there are 'Master Trust Funds' which are useful for assets over $30,000; less than that the administrative costs are harder to justify.

On another note, there's what's referred to as IHSS (In-Home Support Services) which either pay for domestic and/or personal care giving or assist in finding people to employ as in-home care givers.

Mom might be eligible for SSI or SSDI benefits - see your local Social Services office.

I think the social worker funded for this, you shouldn't pay if you get Disability Living Allowance. If you look up social worker for the disabled in the yellow pages I'm sure they are willin to give advice if you are not sure on what advice you should do.

if in UK go for direct payments so you can employ people to help you and give the rest of family rest ..and time to enjoy your company ...... see social services as in social worker its a battle ,hold your ground get someone to help you if you can ..... but your entitled to it been there done it ...... and when the say they have no money in budget take them to task as in court action no money is no excuse ...good luck its your right go for it
