How long should I abstain from intercourse after a Depo-Provera shot? I got it when I wasn't on my period.

Well not really joking--I know of several people who got pregnant after having Depo Provera. So be every care full. Don't trust it.

You don't have to abstain from sex if you got it while you were on you cycle. It's effective right away.

A few weeks. Or at least use a condom.

Your doctor or nurse should have told you though.
