The dark days. It took the tongue right out of the cheek of glam.

Not at all, Billy!
They took off their makeup in 1983, I was 21 at the time, and SERIOUSLY crushing on Paul Stanley.
One look at that clean face, and I was in love for real. Of course, back then, I didn't know what men were for; when I found out, I like him more!
That ushered in a time of more sophisticated music from them. I don't bother much since the makeup went back on (I am 45 now) it feels just ridiculous to me, to follow them now.

It was a bummer, it was like finding out Santa Claus was a fake. Took away the magic.

I still liked them. Course, I was like 12 then so I wasn't very familiar with them during make-up. I remember "Tear are Falling" being on MTV all the time and I liked "Lick It Up" (I even have that one on my Ipod)
