An experience through which you go that provokes a change in you and makes you a different person. It prepares you to play a different role. The change is visible to yourself and to the community you are in. Like the rites of passage of the ancient tribes... I don't know which would be the rites of our days however.

In some religions as Jewish,when they celebrate a boy becoming a man., going through a hazing, a marriage,elevating to priesthood, the masons membership ,becoming a member of the daughters of the American revolution, crossing the equator, crossing the international date line, crossing into another life or dying.

There are more branches of the Catholic Church all in union with the Pope as the Religious Leader. Not all Catholics are of the Latin Rite and there are those Sedevancists that are split away from us. They consider themselves "More Catholic than the Pope."
