Do you pay for stuff in cash, your bank card [credit / debit] or online? Which do you use most often and has your payment method changed over the last couple of years?

Overseas I loved paying by card or cheque due to no bank charges, but in South Africa the bank charges are ridiculous when writing a cheque whereas elsewhere it is mostly free! Now, well, I don't have anything to spend but if I do I prefer cash! LOL

I hardly use cash. I don't have a card for my main (savings)account. I prefer to make all my payments online. I hate bank queues. I make transfers to my check and credit cards, then use cheque card to withdraw few hundreds early inn the mornings (between 6 and 7). I don't know why! From there everything is paid online or by credit card.

Like you said, it's expensive to bank or withdraw your money in this country. I hope that the current hearings on bank charges will bring some changes!!!

My mehod of payment is cash. Cold hard cash. You can spend it right now. No worrying is the check is good. Also credit the same thing applies. Then there is a debit card which would be the same as cash so I guess it would be ok also. But I still prefer cash.

Plastic is Fantastic!

I don't like carrying cash, too dangerous. My Internet purchases are also done with Credit card.

I prefer paying by card actually makes me spend less on all the stupid stuff. But the freakin charges are ridiculous. i get 5 free transactions every month and thereafter ther is like a minimum of R3.** plus 10% of the total value of the purchase if you using a debit card. Now for me thats ridiculous considering its your own damn money. But then again on the other side should you get robbed, that R3 wont be that much afterall.

With Cash.

I don't have a credit card, they freak me out! I can just see me getting over excited with one and buying something big and yellow and having to pay it off by selling a kidney!!!

And cyber cash and I have yet to be introduced.

i usually use a debit card or an eft - you right bank charges are a ripp off , but i guess thats the price we have to pay for safety - its not too wise to carry cash around - people get shot for R5...
