what does this mean? I try to charge it and this reading comes up on the screen. What do I need to do?

As for the issue, I found this.

Error: "Invalid battery."
Issues and errors
Battery may be defective or may not be a Motorola original battery.
After market battery (non- Motorola battery) was inserted, the battery does not have Motorola communication technology.

If, after the error is displayed, it is accompanied by a single beep; the beep is indicating that you do not have charging capabilities with the battery even though it may be able to power the device on.

Leave the battery on for a while, even a couple of days. Then turn it off and leave it off for a while, like overnight, without removing the batter from the phone. The problem usually takes care of itself. If it does not, and it is a Motorola battery, return it to where you got it, as it is a warranty issue.
