My mom, sister, grandma, and I are traveling to Las Vegas in the end of August. We are staying in NYNY and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions. My grandma is in a wheel chair, so we have to keep that in mind when doing things outside our hotel. We will only be there for two full days, so I know we won't be able to do everything- but we wanted to take my grandma who loves to play slots! So I'm specifically looking for things to do at our hotel or near our hotel!

If anyone has something we MUST do (considering this will probably be my grandma's only trip to vegas), please give suggestions. We'd prefer to stay somewhat close to the hotel so we don't have the hassel a wheel chair can potentially cause.

4 women over the age of 21 and everyone is recommending the "Tournament of Kings" at Excalibur. I recommend you take grandma to a show at Excalibur but make it "The Thunder From Down Under" instead, grandma may be old but she's still a woman. Besides, the tickets are cheaper.

If you can get reservations to the outdoor cafe at Paris "Mon Ami Gabi" - 1-702-944-4224 , just after dark is best, make sure you request outdoor seating. The Fountains of Bellagio show is every 15 minutes and it's the best of the free spectacles in LV.

"Ka" - MGM is one of the best shows in LV
1-866-774-7117 - Section 202 is the best IMHO - buy tickets as far in advance as possible(120 days) good tickets go early.

MGM would probably be the best & easiest place for grandma to play the slots. NY NY is a little crowded, MGM has a lot of wide open spaces.

I don't normally recommend renting a car, but in your case, with the 4 or you, it would probably be for the best, if you want to get away from NY NY at all. >Valet parking would allow you to drop gramdma at the entrance. LV resort hotels tend to be rather large and walking great distances is not uncommon.

Fremont Street Experience - after dark, shows on the hour. Fri/Sat shows are on the half hour.

Shopping
The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace >This place is awesome, I hate shopping with a passion and even I can spend a few hours "window" shopping there.

A distant second
Miracle Mile Shops - Planet Hollywood

Grand Canal Shoppes - Venetian

For bargains
Premium Outlet Mall - on Charleston

These sites list hundreds of activities & attractions

Best value buffets >Just in case you decide to rent that car, these are great places to eat.

Orleans - L,D
Palace Station - B,L,D
Fremont - Seafood buffet Sun/Tue/Fri
LV Hilton - D

Across the street from NYNY is the Tropicana.
I do not know the age of you or your family members but the Trop has a comedy club called "The Comedy Stop at the Trop"
They have 2 shows per night which usually sell out. So call the Hotel to buy tickets earlier in the day with a credit card.
The show costs $17 each and you get to see 3 comics and receive one free drink coupon with admission.
I have been to Vegas many times and this is the only thing I make sure I do each visit.

Also if you are of drinking age, NYNY has a Cuyote Ugly bar which is pretty fun.

Well, you'll be right next to the Excalibur and their Knights of the round Table is pretty cool. And right down the way is Mandalay Bay and they have The Shark Reef which is really neat. I think you're also across the street from the Tropicana, and that has the Titanic exhibit. If you don't mind going up to the north end of the strip, I would always recommend the Stratosphere tower. You ride an elevator to the top and can see the whole city. It is much cooler to see at night though. Hope you have a good visit!

If you are staying at the New York, NY, you can easily go to the MGM which is across the street, using the bridge from the second floor of the hotel. On the other side is the bridge to the Excalibur hotel. The MGM is huge and there are many slots there (compared to the NYNY).

You will be at a major intersection with 4 hotels across the side walk in the sky. Once at the Excaliber you can hit a couple more hotels by train and a shopping area. The King Author/ Knights of the Round table dinner and show use to be excellent. I would ask about wheelchair access before buying tickets.

you should probably try to catch one of the many shows on the strip. i think mystere and "o" are the best cirque de soleil shows. o is pretty expensive, but it's really unique. another good show is the blue man group. you may want to shell our a little more money for better seats though. a lot of the cabs are vans and wheelchair accessible, so don't let a little thing like being in a wheelchair get in the way of doing things. i guess it depends on what your grandma is interested in doing.

oh, you should def check out the fremont street experience. it's a overhead light show in downtown. since your grandma likes to play the slots she should check out downtown. it was my grandma's fav place to play the slots since the stip hotels were so busy and full of the younger crowd.

hope you guys have a good time.

Make sure you go to the Luxor for the cool Egyptian theme stuff. Very different from any other hotel casino inside and out(the pyramid thing). It also has gambling, movie theater, restuarants, shopping, etc. It's not too far from NYNY and within easy walking or wheelchair distance. For me, the must do thing was going to see Hoover Dam. They have tours and it is wheelchair accessible.

Things have changed in the year I've been to Las Vegas. But you can visit the Ex Caliber Casino via a bridge, without leaving NY NY. I heard the Ex Caliber has a good middle ages horse show, along with a dinner. I was going to recommend seeing Rita Rudner at NY NY, but she is now at Harrah's.
