Bad

Historians wax lyrical about these great civilizations

The human sacrifice was a killer though!

Do you know that the aztec warriors main weapon was a club

He did not want to kill the enemy he wanted to capture him so that his still beating heart could be torn from his chest when later sacrificed

the problem was that the priests demanded so many human sacrifices that they had to raid all of the surrounding tribes for victims.

Ever wondered how the Spanish were able to topple these mighty civilizations?

They had help from these other tribes.

The aztecs were loathed

Good riddance I say

The only way that would happen is if the Native Americans had resistance to European disease or Europeans were felled by Native Diseases like Yaws or Syphilis.

But if they were alive today Spain would not dominate the NEw World. The Inca, Triple Alliance would. They Mayas in the early 1500's were practically destroyed as a culture.

If Native Americans were resistant to European diseases I doubt that the European conquererors could conquer 70 million people with archaic arqebuses and swords

The Incans and Mayans still exist. You can see the Mayans in Yucatan riding bicycles, waiting for busses, carrying produce somewhere, or animals. Same with Incans, further south.

As a result, the world's the same as it is.

A camel mated to a llama certainly sounds useful.

How would having one or two additional warlike cultures make the world a better place?
I agree, it would've been nice to see how the cultures evolved from how they were when the Spanish conquered them, just as my Native American ancestors should have been able to live and evolve in their own way.
So we now have an animal that can go for three days without water, while spitting twenty foot! Chalk up another time waster for the scientific community!

If the three great Amerindian civilizations had been allowed to coexist with the Europeans that arrived over 500 years ago, we would all be wiser and happier.
On the other hand, if the Aztecs had defeated Cortes and Atahualpa killed Pizarro and his men, we wouldn't be here today.

Martin Cruz Smith wrote a book titled, " The Indians Won. " suggest you find a copy and read what Mr. Smith thought the United States MIGHT have been like had a few changes taken place. Although this is a fictional " alternative theory " book it is well researched and certain is plausible.

Whether or not the world would be a better place is pure projection... but certainly it would be different. Who knows, every culture has its own share of good guys and bad guys. If you ever write a book, that certainly would be interesting subject matter...

Because at those times the natives were totally innocent and kind to their own people - and that's human nature and they probly don't have any religion or their religion is not as extreme or their religion is very open minded - it's just the fact that those people were open minded enough to understand
