They are already "commoners" if by that you refer to being equal to the other citizens of England.

The family "title" comes from a government subsidized program called royalty.

The so-called royalty in England are in fact not special except in the minds of people who worship them.

The ancient Egyptians has something similar in the form of the Pharaoh and his family.
