I just lent my brother $500 with the assumption I would be getting it back. Do you think it's going to happen...NOT!!!
I could use that money right about now.

I'm too poor to lend people money, so honestly I hate it when people ask. As a general rule, I don't lend money unless I'm prepared to accept that I might not get it back. Lending money can lead to so much drama, resentment, broken relationships ect. A year ago, I went to go meet a friend (for the first time) in another state. We live very far apart, so met in a state in the middle. I had bought a plane ticket and everything. A week before the trip, he tells me he's not gonna be able to pay for his half of the hotel, but that he could pay me back a week or so after the trip. I had no choice but to say yes (i couldn't refund the plane ticket). Anyways, so he's never paid me back the $100 he owes me. And he lives far away, so it's not like I can just go and demand it. I am still bitter about it though. He makes more $ than i do and has way less expenses, and I'm a struggling single mom. There have been many times when I desperately could have used that $100. So I really try to avoid lending people money.

I have never had the opportunity to lend family money, but no I would not expect it back. I have the same attitude for anyone I lend money to. I would like the loan paid back but I don't expect it.

Yes I do and no I do not. I hope to get it back or part of it but I don't expect to ever see that money again. Why?
They are family, you do what you can for them, when you can... it is a small part of what being a family is all about. I know they would do the same for me if they could.

Yes I have, and yes I expected it back. And I have also BORROWED from family, and paid it back with better interest than they could have gotten just by putting it in a savings acount.
You did it out of love and concern, though I guess you won't do it again.

Yes I did , without expecting it back, but I was repaid much more than that when I needed it . Yes my family is pretty close knitted, you won't find such strong bonds often. I am proud of it . Thank God.

I'm the family loan shark ...
Sure I'll lend you money ... but the interest rates are obscene.
