This is my first post ever about something political, Im a constant poster about various things. But over the last year I have noticed a convenient trend. Every time President Bush's approval rating goes down, we hear about a "hightened threat level" and now going as far as to say "Al-qaida is reborn and stronger then before 9-11". This just after 46% of the people wanted him impeached? I dont doubt al-qaida is still a problem, but this little trend is getting to predictable. Am I the only one who sees this?

Paranoia? Maybe. I am not active duty now but I spent 16 months total active. 9 in Afghanistan, 7 in Iraq. I have a more presice view on things then most. I am behind the war in both countries. Although, I dont think Iraq was priority. It is now though. After all that, I still think things are blasted over the news for nothing less then scare tactics.

Yes. I think the term is paranoia. If Mr. Bush wanted to use scare tactics to boost poll ratings, he would be on TV every day with alerts.
I am sure you are aware of the screwed up bombing attempts in Great Britain. The authorities have found some links to the US involving the bombers.

Perhaps if Bush had focused his energy on quelling Al Queda or capturing Osama instead of making Halliburton richer, we would not be facing dangers like we are. We went to Iraq and it was like he totally forgot that the USA had been attacked and all he could think of is Iraqi freedom. All he has done with that is divert the real search for people that would harm us to sacrifice troops in Iraq. This man needs impeachment. He is horribly incompetent. Right now, he is so up on his own power and thinks he is above any accountability for his actions and that is a dangerous thing to the people of this country.

No i'm worried that this has arise at a time while Blair and Brown are going to be giving data on the Iraq conflict enquiry and an attempt is being made to decrease media interest in this. I abhor any style of terrorist attack on harmless people, yet we would desire to no longer overlook that truly hundreds of thousands have been killed via the state terorism (termed conflict, invasion, regime replace) perpetrated via the U.S., Israel and the U.ok.

No! You are not the only one, and frankly, I don't like the trend either! Their way to control the masses , is to keep us afraid of possible future attacks!
Watch the daily monitor on the media for terrorist threats! it is usually orange! Fear is a powerful weapon! One I am sick of being used against me!
Thank you for your service to this country! I am very, very sorry you had to go! I am also proud of you!
But ,I have to disagree with you about the war! I think it is unjust, and unnecessary, and you young people are dying everyday because of it!

Nope your right. I've been saying they same thing since they instituted the alert levels. Anytime he's questioned or his ratings go down the alert level starts creeping up and bush tells ya watch out they're gonna get ya. Or you cant question us the terrorist are out there. kinda too convenient makes ya wonder about who's really behind it.

I see this too, but his approvals ratings dropping becuase of the "heightened threat level". Bush is doing everything he can to stop Al Qaida but since his actions have no visible change, people are beginning to doubt whether he can be an effective President.

What has Bush done to ease the fear of terrorist attacks? I haven't seen ANYTHING but hear about dusty old Iraq. even with this terrorist level going up, his approval rating is going down, way down.

Totaly. Terrorist level IS rising.
Because of this, people treat muslims diffrently. Not all muslims are bad. Al Qaida are a group of radical muslims. People think all muslims (or simply people with beards) are bad.

He can't fool all the people all the time. You must realize the fact that to join the Republican party, one must take an oath to never tell the truth and for Christ sakes, don't pay any income taxes (unless you are poor-middle class).
I really get a kick out of when the government officials get on the news and give the terrorists ideas of where/when to hit at our most vulnerable points.............Curious, isn't it?

No, you are not. My husband and I noticed it on the news last night and had to give a little chuckle and roll our eyes and say..."He's at it again!"
Bush has a real problem now, and that is his "own" party is now raising their eyebrows to his Iraq policies so now we are in threat of terrorism AGAIN! This is most definitely the story of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". I don't, as many other Americans don't trust anything the man has to say anymore.
The only threat of terror is being done by our own government.
