Direct deposit?

Question

What time (if there is one) do direct deposits normally go into banks... Its 7:30am here and I just checked but it hasnt gone thru yet... Should I stop checking until tomorrow, or should I wait until the bank opens (around 9-10am) And is there a chance it would still go in today?

In my experience, banks generally credit direct deposits as soon as they get them. That makes sense, because the work is all done by computers, no human hands involved, and delaying that action would be leaving balls in the air, ripe for misadventure.

That being said, the companies making direct deposits to your account may do it at the end of the day, at the start of the day, or in the middle of the day, depending on what else the data center has on their plate, and depending on their policy.

I know of a couple of companies that, by policy, they start their payroll direct deposit last thing in the day, the day before it's actually payday. That way, they have possession of the cash as long as possible, but employees never have to wait for their cash. This is interpreted a couple of different ways, though. At one company, if payday falls on Monday, they run the job late Sunday, and at another company, they run the job late Friday.

I'd check again at 10 AM, at noon, at 2 PM, at 4 PM, and at 6 PM. If it's not there by 6 PM, you probably won't see it until tomorrow. (All these times are based on where the company is located that's direct depositing to you. Sounds like you're in eastern time zone. If the company has their puters in California, adjust those times by 3 hours.)

With me, direct deposit seems to be random on the week I get paid. I work for Target and I've always been told direct deposit happens at midnight Wed going into Thursday morning. But that didn't happen to me this week. Several weeks ago I got it around noon on a Wednesday. Now I'm waiting for the new one and so far nothing.

I filed on the 17th and my return was accepted on the 17th as well. I also have a "receive by Jan 31st" date on WMR. This is starting to worry me. The website has been down all weekend and the hotline is telling me the same 1/31 date. I really hope this updates tonight at some point so we all have some peace of mind. At this point I think it would be a miracle if I got my refund by the end of the week. Does anyone else have a DD by 1/25 date when they call the hotline? My refund was accepted the first possible day refunds could be accepted, so this is all so confusing for me. I have heard some people have a 1/25 DD date and others have a 1/31 date. That does'nt make me feel very confident that things will work out in my favor.
