It is not so easy but can be practical. Years ago I saw an attachment for the rear of a car to attach the raised end of a boat's stern & you would then swing the boat in an arc so the bow faced forward. Thus only half the weight would have to be lifted. Check your vehicles'roof load weight limit though , a John boat can be quite heavy. Yakima.com may have listings for all auto roof load limits.

It's not too hard to put that up on the vehicle.

I've got an Expedition I put my 15 foot canoe on. Now a john boat is a lot heavier. The only difference is that you will want someone to help you load it onto the vehicle. Also, make sure you have a solid roof rack on that vehicle, not just the standard luggage rack. Otherwise, you will be kicking yourself when it comes off the foam blocks and scratches your vehicle to heck and back.

As long as you have a roof rack or it will be hard on the roofs finish. Carry it upside down so the wind will push it down not lift it up.Tie it good in the front & back an don't let the lines rub or the finish will be gone???store coolers etc under boat. Hope this helps> Be safe
