There are 2 possibilities for you problem. You have good problem and bad problem.

===== DETAIL ====

The fuse (in houses and cars) are there to prevent electrical fires. If you are replacing them again and again (with proper value fuse) then too much current is being draw and the fuse is working properly (preventing electrical fire).

Of course if you are using the incorrectly rated fuse, then it would blow. Depending on your car's make and model it could be anything from 10 amp to 20 amps (that's a huge range). If you have a used car, it is possible the previous owner replace the fuse with lower rated fuse (but was only using it for light current usage). So check with your manual or call the dealer to find the correct amp rating.

Back to if you are already using correct fuse: If you are using light current device (laptop adapter, cellphone chargers) then you have a short some where. In this case it is easiest to just rewire the cigarette lighter (it is basically 1 wire to the battery). I would not try to fish out the short, it is much easier to just wire 1 wire back to battery.

If you are using heavy current device (cigarette lighter), then you might have old faulty lighter (the actual little 1 inch device). Try taking that to another car (with same rated fuse) and see if it blows the fuse again. If the fuse get blown, it is time to get a replacement lighter. If the fuse does not get blown - in different car, then try a borrowed lighter - in your car. If the fuse gets blown with borrowed fuse, again you probably have a short and need to rewire the cigarette light plug.

i would say most likely the cigar lighter is bad . yes in come cases it does have other items on the same circuit. unplug the lighter and replace the fuse . if still blows there is some thing else wrong beside the lighter . if the fuse don't blow then it was the lighter . lighter do go bad from time to time .

The wireless phone rechargers kill those fuses lots of times. Sometime that is a power socket and not a cigar lighter. Does the lighter go in stay then pop out when hot?

Possible a bad earth connection or a faulty lighter holder the part the actual lighter goes into.

COULD BE THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE IF YOU USE IT A LOT OR LOOK INSIDE AND SEE IF ANYTHING FELL INTO IT, VERY COMMON FOR COINS TO GET TRAPPED INSIDE.
