The answers denote the natural things that come in mind when somebody raises ALARM.
The image that comes to my mind is akin to it. Alarm signifies the alrms clock going on in the morning. This period is called 'the hour of Ram' and considered sacred. The sound of alarm (a la Ram) reminds me of Ram. It may be a personal idiosyncracy but that is what the word evokes in my mind.

Being in Tel Aviv during the first Golf War. Hearing the sirens go off and the first bombs falling, trying to gather cats and dogs together into the room we sealed off, putting my gasmask on upside down, watching my animals to see if they would die in front of my eyes....sorry,just poured out.
