As an Englishman who is currently in the USA on business i feel i must ask this question.
Most Americans i have met always seem to late and i was wondering if this stems from World War two, where as everybody knows they were infamously late.

Don't know about the WW II thing, but I am always early, usually at least 15 minutes. Sometimes with business people it is a power thing they feel that they are important and people will wait for them.

Came to America and forgot to adjust for the time zone difference again, right? Come on Sid, an experienced traveler such as yourself should remember such simple things. To answer your question, Americans are not always late. Not when it comes to meeting someone interesting. A silly English poof such as yourself however, your lucky any Americans showed up at all. Just like WW2.

So, after Hitler had kicked you Brits off the continent, we come to the rescue, and all you can do is complain "you got here too late?" Do you want us to be the world's police for or not? Make up your damned mind.

PS I don't think 100 years is a long time, most of my furniture is that old.

Yes ... thats exactly why we're late ... because we all collectively think "gee ... we were late for WWII, so we have to show up to everything late now." Give me a break.

I think what you're describing is bias ... nothing more. I am American and I do not share your observation -- I find most Americans are on time. Personally, myself I show up at least 15 minutes early for everything. Also, I've met plenty of Brits whom are chronically late for meetings ... fancy that mate ...

Also, we weren't late for WWII ... we bailed you out (a second time), so how about a little gratitude. Like we have an obligation to come to Britain's aid at the first sign of trouble ...

I believe this is due to an heriditary problem often known as 'fattus arses' which inhibits efficient movement, quite common in the US of A.

Probably as a result of all that weak lager and MacDonalds!

Possibly - they were three years late for WWII after all.

Or maybe its because they have to drink so much of their weak beer to get drunk that they end up having to pee a lot and they are late because they need to make lots of toilet stops on the way . . .
