well i don't think any tax money should go into building a casino, i mean casinos are so profitable that load of private investors would fork out the money top build one. If i had the money i would.

Brown should scrap the super casino idea! Britain has imported everything that is bad from the USA, and big casinos like those in Las Vegas would just take us another step nearer to being a cheap immitation of the most corrupt and tacky country on the planet.

The Super Casino plan was amongst the worst things that the Blair government came up with, and smacked of corruption to me.
So I think Brown is right to scrap them, and you are right that the money should be spent on housing, hospitals, e.t.c.

I think he is right to scrap them. I know there would have been jobs created but there also would have been thousands in dept with gambling addictions. He should give money back to the people who tried to have the casinos and spent time and money on the promotions etc.
We do need hospitals, houses etc instead.
He scrapped them because he wants to be bessie mates with the Daily Mail.

I must admit, I thought the idea of subsidising what is obviously a generically very profitable business was a daft one to start with. However, if it means he is stopping them being built by private companies as well as not funding them to be built I am not so sure he is being overly clever to halt what would be a great income to the locality.
Maybe by subsidising he was initially hoping for a percentage of the profits, in which case it makes sense long-term .... but long term they will not be in power so they will have no benefit, hence dropping the plan as a waste of their money. Short-term, obviously housing, hospitals etc. would be more more important to voters/those that give the labour party backing .... and boy do they need that at the moment !
As for the ideal that he is doing this to stop millions getting further into debt, I cannot believe that as he and his sort ensure that the country stays in debt in order to keep the country afloat. Sounds ridiculous, but this is a country that promotes debt not saving.

He is definitely correct in banning casino's anywhere in England. They are parasites that are not needed or in the main, not welcome by normal people. The only ones who would gain are the lazy money grabbers. where else could they find such an easy kind of job?. qualifications? gangster, conman, or whatever. Brown is right in his decision, we do not want or need them. What we do need is more housing and dental surgeries, clinics, etc. Its nice to find someone in politics today with the guts to turn down the money men.

I think he is 100% right. Super casinos mean more debt. This country has thousands of people in debt I dont think it would help cut the figures of debt.

I have mixed feelings.I was worried that people would get heavily into debt however they do that with credit cards & on line gambling. At least the casinos would have created much needed jobs.Everyone keeps saying build houses.hospitals etc.Which will take more land trees etc.I think we need to have a re-think on building.

right. because at the end of the day casinos entice some people to gambling who can't afford it. they then get deeper in debt.

THE ONLY REASON WHY BROWN SCRAPPED THE SUPER CASINO IDEA IS HIS CHRISTIAN BACKGROUND. BRITAIN IS NOW GOING TO BE A TYRANNICAL THEOCRACY RATHER THAN A DEMOCRACY GOVERNED BY A RELIGIOUS MANIAC, THEREFORE THE CRUSADE AGAINST ISLAM WILL CONTINUE WITH A DESPERATE URGE TO SUCCEED.
