A woman I was once close to has shown me her true colors, and basically turned out to be a fair-weather friend, "dumping" me for someone else when she and I had a disagreement. I tried to patch it up with her, but it just didn't work. The problem is, she is one of a larger group of friends that I socialize with, and she has known all of them longer than I have. The other group members are friendly toward me and my husband, but the situation is tense. We have annual parties together, go out to happy hour, that kind of thing. Is there any way to try and socialize with the other members of the group, or do I have to give up on the whole thing?

Unless you are the one throwing the party, or arranging the outing, you can't really exclude her.
The best thing you can do is to not lower yourself to do anything nasty and give anyone a reason to sympathize with her.
Keep the high road. Try to arrange some function with everyone else. Maybe a barbecue or something. And don't even mention this other person. If she really is a backstabber, maybe some of them are looking for a way to drift away from her too.

In a situation like that with a stubborn person like her, you will just have to forget the whole thing because she wont ever admit that she's wrong. Keep having fun with your other friends in the group, be nice to her, and if things are still tense, find a new group of friends.

These other people are her friends. If you have social activities and invite everyone except her, they are soon going to decide you are trying to start trouble in their circle. So, even if some of them agree with you, it may not be worth it to them to choose sides. You may want to shop for a different circle of friends.

Be the bigger person. Don't let your bad feelings toward her ruin the great realtionship that you have with your other friends. Just ignore her.

What? Are you a child? Deal with bad people by ignoring them. Don't give up on ALL your friends.
