Yes.
In the UK, people can be arrested over the age of 10. this child was about 12. The child had vandalised a bus (tagging with a marker pen on the window), the police got them on CCTV. They circulated it round local schools, social workers and so on, worked out who it was and went to pick them up. It was after the event and they went 'quietly', obviously quite shaken and upset. It later went to court and they were fined for the damage.
Let's hope the experience has put them off vandalism.

I'm not sure if the child was arrested, but I did see 2 policewomen chasing a child. He was from a 'travelling' family, who were trying to camp on private property without permission. It took weeks to evict these people, who Left a horrendous amount of (putting it politely) 'rubbish' behind.

No, but I have seen them arrest a teenager with Autism who doesn't understand the world around them. It was unavoidable but very sad, something I will never forget and never want to have to witness again.
P.S it is not illegal t arrest kids!!!

Yes at school...When kids that are old enough to go to jail get arrested. Its sad because fighting is totally stupid and pointless...They get hauled off in handcuffs over some guy/girl or because someone looked at them the wrong way.

I did student nursing at an inner city school. There was a huge fight in the hall. One girl had a knife. I saw her get arrested. She was like 13.

yup - saw it once on holidays in Turkey - this kid pickpocketed an elderly gent, he got caught and he was arrested and taken away.
The way I look at it is if you do the crime - you pay the penalty and by arresting children it might aid in sorting them out and not living a life of crime when they get older.

I saw a ten year old boy brought before Minshull St Crown Court in Manchester. The judge wasn't happy, but the prosecution said there had been nowhere else to keep him. (I find this hard to believe myself.)They'd contacted his father, but he'd said he wasn't interested. Quite shocking to see. The kid wasn't your average 10 year old, he was a thieving little ratbag far ahead of his years, but it ain't right, is it?
