I finally found a roommate and I'm moving in with her next month. I've lived alone the past 3 years, since living on my own, so I've never shared a place with anyone as an adult. I'm excited, anxious, and also kind of scared about this. Is this normal? I'm sure it will be fun, and I'm looking forward to it, but I hope we get along for the majority of the time and that nothing goes wrong because I would hate to have to move or for my things to get stolen or destroyed. I don't know, I'm just a little paranoid about my stuff, and if bad feelings ever come between us?! The girl is an aquaintence of mine, I know her from an old job, but we're still in the getting to know each other "for real" phase. Are these feelings normal?! What do you think? Thanks.

You are wise to have some caution. Just to be on the safe side, I'd lock any valuables and money up in a fire safe chest and have a good lock on your bedroom door with a video camera. I knew someone very nice, and the temptation was just to great for him, so he stole something from me. You can never be too careful.

I think it's very natural to be feeling a bit anxious about moving in to a new place and sharing it with a roomate. As you said, you are still in the getting to know each other phase. Be sure that you two sit down and talk things out when you get into your new place. You need to have some clear boundaries with each other and tell each other your expectations. Getting this out in the open to begin with can prevent problems or misunderstandings in the future. Good luck in your new place!
