I have just read the answers to your question and never realised there was so much hatred for the McCanns. these answers seem to suggest at most they were implicit in the disappearance of their daughter and at least uncaring. I don't have enough knowledge of the case to judge them, so sorry I can't answer your question. I just pray she is safe and well.

But i probably wouldn't ask this until they found her. Even though they have been partly to blame for what happened, i do feel sympathy for that little girl and what may have happened to her and think it would be a bit insensitive to ask it.

How about:
Hire a crack investigator
Organise a search party and start covering your area
Start using your website to put some heat on the police (you're too nice to them, they're not doing a great job)
Start using your celebrity and help other families in similar circumstances.

It has two parts

If Madeleine is found alive, how will you explain to her why you weren't there to protect her.

If she is found dead, how will you explain to her siblings why you weren't there to stop it happening?

I actually sent an email to them asking if there was anyway I could help in the search with their daughter and they said donate money. I asked what the money was for and I received an email saying they were advised not to disclose that information. So I just thought for those that said they would ask that question; I would let you know what their answer would be.

Why haven't you come out and stated that leaving children alone, even if it does seem like you are sitting in your back garden, is never a good idea and said "we made a massive error of judgment which we will regret for the rest of our lives. It was stupid and I warn others never ever do it, because the worse has happened to us as a result".
