Living in California is certainly better than living in the following states Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Arkansas, Wyoming, Kansas, Oklahoma, Indiana, Nebraska, Louisiana and Idaho. California's economy is fifth in the world. The living cost is high. You must have lot of money to live in California.

No, but I'm pretty homesick for Boulder Creek at times. I do not envy people in southern California, because it's too hot down there. But I admit I envy those who can afford to live in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where I was very happy until My Steve committed suicide and my world went to . . . well, went all wrong.

Still, I am enjoying University City, a "suburb" of St. Louis, Missouri, and will try to get over my homesickness. I have found that some things are really a good bit better here than they were in California, but most especially the cost of living.

I wouldn't live in California if you paid me. There's too many people; it's on a major fault line ready to blow any time; people carry guns because they're frightened of each other; Hollywood is there; Disneyland is there; and there are many other reasons to live elsewhere, but I won't bore you with those here.
I think the only reason people in other states of the US envy California is the weather, or what they imagine it is. We have better weather here in Aus, nobody carries guns, there's a lot of s p a c e here, and the ground doesn't wobble.

I was born in California and couldn't wait to leave.

Pity is the emotion that comes to mind.

I'll tell ya....I'm bread and born in DEEE-TROIT...I think the envy comes from the asumption that Midwesterners might be missing something, fashion-wise...and that's about it. LA and NY get the most up-to-date info as far as materialism goes, but otherwise, I think y'all need us down-to-earth folk to remind y'all that we're human.
The best use of humanity-meets-fame, in my opinion, is Woody Harrelson and Co...also digging on Angelina and Brad.

movie stars, all those tv companies and magazines that throw parties with all these goodies, good colleges, cool clothes...plus hollister and A&F sort of started a california trend.

No I like it where I am. Also, if I saw a movie star, more times than not, I would probably not notice.
