This is kind of gross/weird...but here it goes... :)
Okay....you know how asparagus makes your pee stink? Well...cappinchinos and frappachinos do too!!! I don't know why this is, but I have even confirmed it with 2 girlfriends of mine, and it definitely does. After I have a starbucks and I go to the bathroom, it smells like my drink did!! lol Why is this??! Has anyone else noticed this too? I know with asparagus it's the acid in the vegetable that makes your urine smell. Any clues about why coffee related drinks do? I have tested this with both starbucks and slim fast cappichino drinks, and it works every time :) lol Thanks for your input!

Let me clarify the question...
Why does COFFEE aside from OTHER beverages and food, WHY DOES IT MAKE YOUR URINE SMELL EXACTLY LIKE IT? I drink and eat a lot of different things, and my urine isn't smelling like say....red whine or mountain dew?!
So ...how bout' dem apples? To the SMARTA*S who said...."if ya drank it-ya pee it"
Coffee must not process through the digestive system in the same way.

dear miss lisa j,
whatever comes out through your pee, does so because it has been filtered thru lil thingies in the kidney called nephrons. they are the basic filtering units of the human kidney. most of what we eat, undergoes metabolism in the body and is transformed into something else. but a part of all substances, and some substances escape this process altogether. that is when they appear in urine.
this phenomenon , infact was used , in the past to assess the functioning of the kidney. you inject a non metabolisable substance into the kidney, and see how well is it excreted, and binbgo, u have an easy way of seeing how good your kidney is functioning.
so, be assured that it is not abnormal. its just fine.

What goes in must come out. It's not gonna smell like roses after passing through your digestive tract. You should drink water any time you are drinking coffee also.

How about the strong smelling coffee beans?! Whatever gives the coffee bean its smell will give your urine that smell. It's not a phenomenon.

All kinds of food can affect your urine, and your vaginal secretions as well. Try drinking more water, it will dilute your urine and the smell also.
