grounded for life? how long did the punishment actually last?

My mom grounded us, but not for life...I learned it made her more miserable having us stuck in the house so, as a parent, I think twice about grounding my kids because then that means I've got them with me 24/7 and that can be punishment for me! lol
I'll change my mind about the length of grounding if I think their consequences helped them. If they come and want to talk to me, humbly, I let them have a second chance if changes were made:)

lol...Yes, my Mom grounded me for life a couple of times. But, there's this one time that she still talks about today. I'd gotten into trouble for running my mouth, my Mom said, "OK, your grounded for 2 days." Then I said, "No problem." So, she added a week, OK...2 weeks, "no big deal."
OK Nancy a month..."wow Mom that's not bad." Went on till I got life...then I said while walking off (cause she was REALLY mad)
"OK then, I guess I'll never get married and you'll be stuck with me for life too!"
My Mom was so mad she didn't say a word for a while...I ended up with 2 full weeks!

When Im grounded I feel more secure & stable --not flighty or off center.So the punishment ended when I got grounded.

That seemed to be my fathers favorite phrase. He never actually grounded me. I really don't think he was ever mad at me!!

yup. the next day I had to get an MRI, and then my mom was so worked up about it she un-grounded me.
