So. The smokers have been dealt with. There's plans afoot to increase tax on alcohol and the experts now want a tax on fatty foods. What's next??

A toaster tax.
Burnt food is bad for you. So a microchip in your toaster to charge you for every use.

A fart tax for your contribution to the greenhouse effect

According to the Democrats, who sit around and figure out ways to spend everyone's money, everything can be taxed. Even Hillary herself said that we're all too stupid to think for ourselves, and funny thing is that she's right about the part of the country that wants to vote for her.

Taxing some things, like cigarettes and alcohol, that are bad for you anyway I don't have a problem with. What I'm wondering, though, is why the good things aren't rewarded. Instead of punishing everyone by taking more rights away, why can't there be tax breaks for those that pursue healthy lifestyles?

What's next?Well after we have got rid of bloody smoking completely, reduced alchohol consumtion and forced people to eat more healthy and get more exercise, guess what will happen?

People will be healthier, society will be better, about 90 to 95% of the cases the NHS deals with daily (due to smoking, drinking and lifestyle choices) will drastically reduce or dissapear, the police wouldn't have such a big problem on Saturday nights....... etc.

Do you really think smoking drinking and eating nothing but fatty processed crap is a good thing? Morons.

And if you say it is your free choice to do these things, then why shouldn't you pay extra to cover the cost of the strains you are putting on the NHS and the Police?

I think further heavy taxes should be put on all of these things immediately and the money should go straight to the NHS and the Police.

The gov't has its own addiction problems to deal with-- it is called tax money. When they have everyone sufficiently healthy, they will say they need more money because everyone is living too long and dying of diseases due to old age which requires much more health care dollars. Then they will start taxing healthier lifestyle choices!

The reasoning is this.As a nation we spend billions on health care and it is not enough as the demand for services keep rising. A lot of the illnesses and complaints can't be helped, but smoking, drinking, eating unhealthily, drug taking are all areas where ill health is self induced and if controlled can greatly reduce the pressure on the NHS and allow much better service to the genuinely sick. What the government and agencies are trying to do is to make people more aware and to take more responsibility for their own health. There is no restrictions on healthy activities... Do you think this is so wrong? The health of the nation as a whole is more important than having to worry about a few people who might be upset.
