This statement is often repeated, somewhat out of proportion to reality.

If a cockroach was anywhere near a nuclear bomb when it exploded, the cockroach would be vaporized (or at least burnt to a crisp) just like everything else.

What the statement is really trying to say is that cockroaches are so resilient that they could survive high levels of background radiation from nuclear fallout. A large-scale nuclear war would probably kill all humans (including those far away from the bombs), but it probably wouldn't kill all cockroaches. It would, however, kill all cockroaches near the exploding bombs.

Cockroaches are particularly proof against radiation... as in they are in a position to stand up to the comparable dose that should kill a human 6 to fifteen situations... yet they at the instant are not as proof against it as another bugs are... in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, cockroaches will die from radiation, however the only reason some would stay to tell the story a bombing is by technique of the fact they molt at distinctive situations, and the molted shell would incorporate each and every of the radiation, mutually as though a newly molted cockroach have been given hit with the radiation it would die as a results of fact they wouldnt molt for a mutually as giving the radiation adequate time to sink in. yet... all in all, bugs like fruit flies can stand up to radiation lots extra effective.

They have to survive, what else will I be able to eat in abundance after the nuclear fallout? They will also be my only source of entertainment once all my gadgets die from the EMP, after I train them to perform tricks and such.
