Love, faith, peace, hope. Because if I can make one bit of difference in the world it's all worth it.

All sorts of things - my wife and my life and the day I stop work are the main motivation for getting up in the morning.
I love my wife, I love my life and I work as hard as I can to make enough money to buy my place back in my Greek homeland so I can stop working like a dog and enjoy my life even more while I'm still young enough to appreciate it.

To see what happens next, and for the delight of finding myself still alive and reasonably functional - though somewhat impaired! I know I've felt better and could enjoy much more - but I also know that one day I'll feel much worse - so I reckon it's best to grab what joy one can. (Although I do like my bed - but there'll be a time when that's all I've got! So I potter on)

I get up because I want what time I have to count for something. I don't want to waste this opportunity and allow life to just pass me by when I can be making a difference somehow, somewhere for someone other than myself.

My girlfriend drives me to do everything I do even when I'm not on my way to see her.
I go to work at my dead end job to make money to treat her to dinner and buy her little presents.
I am going to college to get a good job and give her all of the things in life you would want for your loved ones.

I get up every morning, and I hope to meet someone new or learn something new.

Basically it boils down to ego.... to fulfill the unending stream of wants it generates and the ever present need to prove myself to others as well as to myself.
Great question behind the simple query... made me think through before answering.

There is a short story by Leo Tolstoy, the great Russian writer, that I always recommend: "Where Love is, There God is". The main character has nothing to live for and prays to die when he is visited by a friend. His friend tells him he must live for God instead of for himself. It turns out what he means is that God (our Creator) created us to love others and to seek out who God is through that love for others.
